Artist Bio In 1980, when the City of New York discontinued its "Y" cutout subway tokens, Ward Wallau decided they should be recycled into cuff links. After 11 years spent petitioning the New York Transit Authority for permission to use them, he was granted an exclusive license to incorporate discontinued tokens in his jewelry. Now he also recycles outdated coins, circuit boards and SCRABBLETM tiles in his jewelry and accessories.
