SINCE 1978 our company has been building and remodeling high-end custom homes. Our partnership combines many talents and experience to create a comprehensive approach to building quality homes of distinction. We are highly experienced with a great variety of styles, locations and scopes of residential projects. Our company is recognized for its quality craftsmanship and attention to detail and we value a close working relationship with the client. We pride ourselves on accessibility and clarity of process. Our long-term relationships with architects, building departments, subcontractors and suppliers results in a smoother building process and a superior product. | Prior to joining Cove Construction, James studied psychology in Zurich, earned a degree from UC Berkeley, and directed halfway houses for emotionally disturbed teens in the Bay Area. He acquired knowledge of the building profession during his time with Cove Construction, starting as a laborer in the mid-Seventies, and working his way up to partnership by the mid-Nineties. During this time, James has taken several sabbaticals to indulge his passion for cooking and travel. He has been able to incorporate his training from various cooking schools throughout the world into building professional cooking school facilities and gourmet residential kitchens. James finds satisfaction in bringing his clients' dreams and architects' visions to life. Born in San Francisco and raised in Marin County, Robert grew up hiking on Mt Tamalpias and swimming at Stinson Beach. His father was a visual display manager for a department store chain as well as an artist. His mother taught nursery school in the house they designed and built. Many of his childhood friends attended his mother's school, including Michael. He graduated from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1970 and began his career as a designer/builder. He built his own family home in West Marin in 1982. Robert often travels to Europe for respites and is greatly influenced by the quality of the structures of France, England, Italy and Spain. He gardens for relaxation. He understands ands appreciates the unique qualities of the Bay Area. A Mill Valley native, Michael attended Old Mill School and Tamalpais High School. He spent several summers during high school working in an architectural office with his father before serving four years in the Navy in the late 60's. Upon his return, he attended Santa Rosa Junior College and Sonoma State University. In the mid 70's he started his own cabinetry business. He realized, while working with his friend Robert on several renovations and remodeling projects, that combining their mutual talents and expertise to create Cove Construction was an obvious choice. The company was founded in 1978. | Clients have commented to us that our crewmembers are people they are happy to invite into their homes. Cove Construction pursues the highest caliber employee. We value the qualities of responsibility, intelligence, resourcefulness and talent with a welcome touch of timely mirth. Mutual respect is a cornerstone of our crew. We work as a team. Each job has employees whose skill levels are matched to the needs of the work. A highly qualified foreman is onsite and is supported by field supervisors and project management personnel who oversee, coordinate and manage each project. The partners are actively involved with the evolution, supervision and communication of our projects. The office/bookkeeping crew is a long-term network of experienced, responsive and computer savvy people.
