We recommend... ...Stainless Steel for most mixing needs, ...Ceramic for bread dough, and ...Glass or Silicone for smaller ingredient bowls, ...Glass when serving in larger bowls, ...Copper for eggs, ...Wood for salads, ...Melamine and plastics for general mixing. For storage of food, we recommend bowls made of non-metallic materials, preferably ceramics or glass. Why not metal or plastic bowls for storage? Over time, foods and liquids cause reactions with metals and plastics, causing leaching, pitting, off tastes, damage to bowls, and more. Ceramics and glass are much, much more resistant to reactions with foods and liquids.
