When I moved to San Francisco last year, I carried the City Notebook with me everywhere. Not only did it save me from getting lost time and again, but it was a great way to chronicle all the places, faces and adventures of my first year in a new town. In addition to the traditional lined journal pages, it features everything you can imagine needing when running around the city... loose notes and for exchanging messages, maps of various regions and sizes, an alphabetical street index...I know the area pretty well now, but I got a new one after maxing out the original out becaues I love it and use it so much!
