Our natural fiber shower curtains are custom manufactured to our guidelines and represent a quality unavailable until now. Our 100% Cotton and Romanian Hemp fabric was treated/finished to our specifications and our Romanian Hemp was custom woven to meet our needs. Heavyweight Material - Our shower curtains are made with heavier material than other natural fiber shower curtains. We use a 12 ounce 100% Cotton material and a 12.5 ounce 100% Romanian Hemp material. Heavier weight means less billowing while showering, longer durability and no chance of water penetration. Other natural fiber shower curtain manufacturers use a 7 - 10 ounce material for their Cotton and Hemp shower curtains. Construction - These natural fiber Hemp and Cotton shower curtains use a 2 ply construction in the weaving process of the fabric. This means two single yarns are twisted (plied) together to form a single larger, denser/heavier yarn which is woven in both the horizontal (fill) direction and the vertical (warp) direction. Other manufacturer's natural fiber shower curtains use a single ply construction. Sizes - We offer a larger range of sizes to meet various needs in shower stalls and tubs. Other manufacturers offer short widths such as 36" stall sizes and 68"-70" tub sizes. Our Natural Fiber Shower Curtain Sizes: Full Size - Will fit 60" - 72" bathtubs and super wide shower stalls. Wide Stall Size - Will fit 42" - 54" shower stalls. Stall Size - Will fit 32" - 42" shower stalls. Grommets - Our grommets are rustproof brass for long life. Grommets serve two purposes in a shower curtain. They allow you to use a shower curtain hanger to hold the curtain in place and they also distribute the weight and stress on the curtain over the fabric. We use a larger size grommet with a 3/8" inside hole diameter. This allows you to use any decorative shower curtain hook to fit in the grommet hole. The larger grommet also spreads the stresses on the fabric over a larger area adding to the durability and lasting good looks of the shower curtain. Cotton and Hemp shower curtains can become heavy when wet as they absorb water. Larger grommets help prevent fabric "bumpout" over the tops of the grommets from the weight of the hanging curtain if used without a shower liner. Fabric Treatments - We use no chemical treatments such as biocides and water repellent finishes in the manufacture of our natural fiber shower curtains. The material is washed and scoured to remove manufacturing residues (sizing) from the fabric. This process also helps preshrink the fabric to minimize further shrinkage during washing and takes the stiffness out of the material. Our beautiful cream color Cotton and Hemp material has been bleached without toxic chlorine and uses a more environmentally sensitive hydrogen peroxide solution to get its "off white" color. We add no optical brighteners that are necessary to give a false bright white appearance. Other manufactured natural fiber shower curtain products are produced in the "greige" condition (products without a finishing treatment after being produced) with manufacturing sizing residues (substances added to the yarn such as starches, gelatins and glues) and use optical brighteners to get a pure white appearance. Sewing Quality - Our shower curtains are manufactured on professional intricate sewing equipment to obtain fine detail and quality. We manufacture these curtains with a high stitch per inch and leave no exposed cut fabric edges on the hems. All hems are straight and uniform in dimension. Other products are made on canvas sewing machinery designed for heavy material manufacturing leaving unnecessary thick thread lines, low stitches per inch and uneven hems with exposed cut edges.
