But it is on the gridiron that some most remember Mr. Morgan, who was inducted into the Marin sports hall of fame in 1993. "Pat was like (former Miami Dolphins player) Mercury Morris in high school," said Warren Domino Alexander, who played in the backfield with Mr. Morgan at Tam. "He was known not only in the county but throughout the Bay Area. As a youngster trying to follow him, he was the man." Alexander, also a member of the Marin hall of fame, said his former teammate had "an iron will." When he was injured, he would submerge "his body in water so hot I couldn't put my hand in it. I knew I wasn't going to be a good football player if I had to do it." Mr. Morgan also was a track star at Tam, running both the 100- and 200-yard sprints. He was born in 1942 in Lisbon, La., and came with his family to Marin City shortly thereafter. Harris-Green said Mr. Morgan loved gardening and hunting. He was also a "computer wiz," she said. "He would help (Marin City children) with programs and provide expertise in the technical aspects of the computer," she said. Mr. Morgan is survived by his wife, Beatrice June; a son, Damian Denzell Morgan of Sacramento; a daughter, Tamiko Rae Morgan of San Pablo; three brothers; a grandson; and several nieces and nephews. The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Cornerstone Community Church at 626 Drake Ave. in Marin City. Contact Don Speich via e-mail at dspeich@marinij.com
