Herein lies the problem with why so many Americans are overweight. the sentence you published sums it up: “But few people, an overwhelming body of research shows, achieve significant weight loss with exercise alone, not without changing their eating habits.” Why do you think there is such an overwhelming body of research on it? Of COURSE you won’t lose much weight without changing your eating habits. But here in our country where so many are obsessed with convenience, no one wants to go the hard route and actually change their diet as well. And likewise, there are many that want to diet, but aren’t willing to exercise. It all comes down to balance between the two. Frankly, I think this article was a waste of time and did nothing but 2 things: state the obvious to those who are healthy and already do exercise, and give those who are struggling with weight loss an easy way out of doing physical exercise, which, paired with a proper diet, IS the best way they will lose weight.
