Location: /Porcelain, Glass, Pottery Vases/Pigeon Forge Pottery Vase & Decorative Pitcher Product Information Another great find and a scarce one too! The Pigeon Forge Pottery closed in 2000, after the passing of the Douglas Ferguson, the founder and master potter. The Pigeon Forge Pottery was located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee 6 miles north of Gatlinburg and the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. Whether the pieces were created by using molds or hand thrown on the potters wheel, all pieces were individually fired and shaped. This is a graceful beige pottery vase and unique standing half pitcher, decorated with the familiar dogwood that became the standard bearer of the Pigeon Forge Pottery decorations. The vase is 2 inches wide at the widest point, and stands 3 3/4 inches tall. The standing half pitcher is unique. It is a flat backed pitcher with a hole in the back for hanging on the wall, yet the base of the pitcher is flat, allowing it to stand up on the table as though it were a regular full pitcher. These pieces are sold as a set only, and are valuable heirloom pieces of 20th century American art. Each piece is stamped with the Pigeon Forge stamp on the bottom.
