In 1950, a group of hypnotists led by Dr. Rexford L. North, Director of the Hypnotism Center in Boston, Massachusetts, had an idea to form a national hypnotism member organization. With Dr. North at the helm, the National Guild of Hypnotists was officially launched in the spring of 1951, and within a short time, local chapters were formed and operating in many major American and Canadian cities. During our fifty-six years we have encouraged an eclectic exchange of ideas, fellowship, mutual trust and cooperation among practitioners while promoting and protecting the art, science and philosophy of hypnotism. Our motto since 1950-51 has been The National Guild of Hypnotists provides an open forum for a free exchange of ideas concerning hypnotism. The Guild Advisory Board is comprised of renowned leaders, authors and teachers in hypnology, with individual specialties in many fields of endeavor. Our legislation arm is the NFH 104, OPEIU AFL-CIO, which has helped us greatly during the past fourteen years.
