Our top tips suggest ways to get the most from your Beko appliances, reducing your electricity bills and saving carbon output. * Dishwashers * Laundry * Cookers * Refrigeration Dishwasher Tips Pay less for clean dishes. It costs around half as much to run a cycle on an energy saving dishwasher as it does on an inefficient machine. To add to the benefits, energy saving recommended dishwashers also use less water. An Energy Saving Recommended dishwasher uses 40% less energy. Save around £20 per year on your electricity bill and 70 kilograms of CO2. And if your water is metered, you'll also save money by using less water per wash cycle. Use the half-load or economy programme. If you're not filling up the Washing machine, Tumble dryer or Dishwasher. Laundry Tips Save £10 a year on your electricity bill. An energy saving recommended washing machine will not only reduce your bills, but you’ll also save 34 kilograms of CO2. Lower temperatures for higher savings. By putting warm food into your fridge it will make the fridge work extra hard to try and keep cold, always allow food to cool down first. Another good tip ... is to defrost frozen food in the fridge as helps to keep it cool as it thaws. The most efficient way to run a fridge. Keep your fridge/freezer at least three quarters full. Ensure your appliance is installed in a well ventilated area. If the ambient temperature is low (but in no case lower than 5 degrees C), then the energy saving will be more. Ensure the time between buying chilled/frozen food and placing them in your appliance is kept at minimum, particularly in summer. We recommend you use a cool bag or a special carrier bag to carry frozen food. Do not leave the door (s) of your appliance open longer than necessary and ensure they are closed properly after each opening. Defrost frozen food in the fridge compartment, so that frozen food acts as an ice pack to assist cooling in the fridge. Cooking Tips Always use the correct size pan when heating water. Only use the amount you need so the electricity is not burning unnecessarily to heat the excess. If only using a small pan, then use a smaller burner and boil water in the kettle first. This will save the time the burner needs to heat the water and by putting a lid on it will boil more quickly. Don’t open your oven door during cooking. The oven temperature reduces by 25 degrees every time the door is opened, making it take more time and energy to cook your food thoroughly than is necessary. You should try and cook the items you need for a meal simultaneously in order to reduce the time you need your oven on for. If you have an electric oven, turn it off before you finish cooking. Ten minutes before your meal is due to finish cooking turn the oven off, leave the door closed and the oven will carry on cooking at the same temperature. See less »
