Celebrate the rich history and culture of India with a uniquely colorful skirt made from recycled saris. Delightfully lightweight, these skirts are handmade in Nepal using salvaged squares of fabric -- giving a second life to glorious textiles worthy of preservation. The sari has been the traditional wardrobe of the India subcontinent for centuries, and is made of handwoven strips of fabrics as long as 29 feet (9 m). Sari's are typically woven with one plain end to be worn concealed within the wrap, and with decorative borders that run the length of the garment. A one to three foot wide elaboration on this decoration makes up the other end. It is this end, known as the pallu, which is worn thrown over the shoulder in some styles of draping. Available in your choice of 26" L (66 cm) for a shorter fit, or 36" L (91 cm) for a longer fit, this wraparound skirt will fit up to a 41" waist (104 cm) with ample ties measuring 24" L (61 cm) each side. Due to the unique nature of these skirts, colors will vary. Please allow us to choose one for you. Materials: Longer skirts (36" L/91 cm) are 100% recycled silk. Medium skirts (26" L/66 cm) are 100% Rayon. Handmade in and fairly traded from Nepal. 26" L (66 cm) International Shipping Available You might also be interested in:
