Big, lush lashes are all the rage so Maybelline's brilliant team decided to super charge their Volum' Express line and bring out Colossal. The name itself screams enormous lashes, but once you get past the name and ultra trendy container does the mascara actually do what it says it will? And how does it stand up against Cover Girl's Lashblast mascara? I was fortunate enough to get a sample of the mascara from Maybelline before the launch date in July. I have to say that the container was very trendy with the bright vivid colors, and the wand looks huge but not quite as big as the wand for Lashblast. This made me wonder if it was going to be as good, so I decided to perform a blind test by using my husband as the selector. But first I wanted to test the quality of the mascara, so I applied a single coat to my top and bottom lashes of one eye. I couldn't believe how much volume and thickness showed in my lashes, just from one coat. When I applied the second coat my lashes never clumped, I didn't have any smudging, and my lashes were HUGE. At that point it was finalized for me; Colossal had beaten LashBlast mascara. But to truly find out for sure I applied LashBlast on my other eye and then asked my husband which one looked fuller and thicker, and then which looked the best overall. Without thinking twice, he automatically picked the eye with Colossal mascara for both answers. So the bottom line is that Maybelline has done it again with their new Colossal Volum' Express Mascara. They have created a definite must-have for all mascara addicts, and I believe that since it is better than Cover Girl LashBlast it will definitely be the next cult favorite. See less »
