Pet ID for Me produces waterproof laminated pet ID tags for pet collars and pet carriers. They come with your pet’s photo and information printed on both sides. You can choose a background of your state’s driver’s license, which looks very cute, or a background image of one of the nonprofits the company sponsors. The amount of information displayed depends on the tag design you choose. The more complete tags (driver’s licenses) offer: * Type of pet (canine, equine or feline) * Name of pet * Address * Phone number * Date of birth * Height * Weight * Fur color * Eye color * Breed * Picture The Pet ID for Me tags are cuter and quieter than metal tags. Also, they carry more information than their metal competitors. But there are downsides. * They are less durable than metal. * Don’t carry space for the owner’s name. * Could be more direct by stating “dog” instead of “canine,” for instance. * Don’t contemplate other pets such as rabbits, ferrets and birds, who also need to be transported in carriers or cages. * Might display a dark picture of your pet if you don’t send a very good picture. Pet ID for Me sent me two tags – a small (1″ x 1.75″) and a large one (1.25″ x 2″) – with information on my tuxedo cat Phoenix. It looked good, but the picture was a bit dark. So, if you decide to get those tags for your pet, make sure to upload a bright picture with enough contrast. I would surely recommend these tags for pet carriers. You’d have extensive information on your pet available right away, in case he escapes or is unattended. During a flight, for example, airline employees can easily check if the pet inside the carrier is the one shown on the tag. As collar tags, they might work fine for a low-energy pet over 10 pounds. But I wouldn’t recommend them to a dog with a busy outdoor life (it won’t last long) or to a small pet (it might be uncomfortable). My gray tabby, Gaijin, weighs 9 pounds, and the small tag looked too big for her.
