This bunk bed, which combines a standard twin over a full-size bed, is one of the most practical and versatile pieces. The larger, lower bed is ideal for an older sibling or overnight guest. When no longer needed as bunks, the two beds separate to become stand-alone beds. The bunk bed is beautifully built with dovetail joinery, a construction detail reserved for the finest furniture. It features our exclusive Sun Valley finish, applied in a multi-step process that replicates the warm character of age and leaves the wood with the patina of a family heirloom. The foundation of each bed is a sturdy slat roll, which provides secure, even support. With the slat roll foundation, the bed can be used without a box spring, or with one if you choose to use a bed skirt. The hook-rail construction enables the foundation to be moved up or down to accommodate a trundle or box spring when the beds are used separately. The lower setting is also great for little ones just learning how to use a big-kid bed. The ladder can be used on either side of the bed, allowing flexibility in room arrangement. Because safety is paramount, this bunk bed passes stringent industry safety standards. The Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends that top bunks not be used for children under 6 years of age.
