Paying $800.00 for any TV with only 1 year warranty is not very smart. I have had my Sanyo for over a year now. I run mine 24/7. I even sleep with the TV on. I can count on one hand the number of times this TV has been cut off. Walmart offers 3 year warranty on-line for $88.00 (Only 2 year warranty available in store, but you can buy TV in store and buy warranty on-line within 30 days). That is 4 years total. Sharp's warranty: 1 year parts, 90 days labor! Shop hard if you are going to spend so much!

My wife and I purchased this TV just over 1 year ago. We loved it! Great picture, sound, and external plug-in options. No complaints, until just recently: as soon as the TV went out of warranty, it stopped operating and in lieu of any extended warranty, SANYO was unwilling to assist. Apparently, banking on the company's 'technology you can trust' slogan to ensure we got our money's worth from this purchase was not a good idea. There were a lot of great reviews available at the time we purchased this TV, but I suppose the market for this stuff was too new to get much feedback on durability. Our advice: factor in an extended warranty when calculating the total cost of a SANYO if you want it to last anymore than 1 year (and be prepared for the hastle of pulling it down off your wall for return/repair early in its life).
