Own a piece of history, a piece of ostalgia. This ceramic vase was made ca. the late 70s in former East Germany. The mark on the base reads: 1530 (or 7530) Strehla GDR with two stamped numbers: 38 and 77. The GDR means that it was probably produced as an export, it's a translation of DDR. Strehla is famous for its "lava" pieces featuring textured glazes. The gray lines next to the pink stripes are raised a tiny bit and are rough. The glaze inside goes from a gray to a dark brown, with some gray speckles around the mouth of the vase. It looks as if the inside and the mouth was glazed dark brown/umber first and then a light, white coat was applied and dripped inside. Maker: Strehla Condition: Excellent Height: 8" diameter: 3.8"
