Clark is locked away in the Phantom Zone, and now that his powers are gone it seems that the criminals once sent away by his father may finally have their revenge. Meanwhile, Zod has taken possession of Lex Luthor (Michael Rosembaum)'s body and plans to force Lana (Kristen Kreuk) to mother his child while preparing to transform the planet to resemble Krypton by using the alien ship's hard drive. While the outlook for mankind is beginning to look somewhat grim, hope arises when Lois (Erica Durance) and Martha (Anette O'Toole's plane goes down near the Fortress of Solitude and Jor-El offers a useful suggestion on how to dispense with Zod.
