Podisus eggs can also be dispersed on the lower leaves of plants directly in field crops, taking care to be placed out of direct sunlight and rain. Larvae begin feeding 5 days after hatching and attack prey throughout the next three weeks of development by injecting a substance that paralyzes within 60 seconds. Eggs will hatch within a week of release, depending on ambient temperature. These predators feed on beetles, loopers, and worms. Use one unit for every ten feet of garden or approximately 4,500 per acre. Target Pests: Caterpillars, beetle larvae, Colorado potato beetle, Lygus bugs and many other immature insects. CAREFULLY dispense approximately 25 eggs into a paper cup, hang cups individually near foliage, out of direct sunlight.
