Bring the whole family to celebrate this festive tribute to the arrival of the first colony of Greeks in North America. Hundreds of Greeks came with Minorcans and Corsicans with Andrew Turnbull, registering on June 26, 1768 with the governor of the East Florida Province, colonizing what would be known as the New Smyrna Colony. St Photios Shrine serves as a memorial to those Greek colonists by witnessing the Orthodox Faith and promoting the Hellenic culture. This years events include a Friday Evening Reception at the St. Photios Shrine, followed by a lecture at Flagler College’s Flagler Room. On Saturday, the celebration includes a memorial service and proclamation followed by an afternoon of dancing, pastries and more. On Sunday, there will be a Divine Liturgy followed by the Founders’ Hospitality Hour and a Youth Rally.
