This Electronic Pet Door gets your dog coming and going. It is smart enough to know when you want your dog to enter or leave your house...and smart enough to keep other animals out. And with its infrared technology, it has the range and speed you need to keep your dog from having to wait before it opens. This automatic pet door lets you control whether your dog is allowed to enter or leave your house. Just set the controls to allow "enter/but don't leave," "leave/but don't enter," "go in/go out," or "locked." A small transmitter on your dog's collar signals its identity to the door. So, like the doorman at an exclusive club, the Staywell Infrared Dog Door knows whether your dog is "on the list." Battery operation ensures your dog still has access even during a power outage. (We recommend the optional power transformer that lets your batteries act in backup mode.) The door is made of heavy-duty, high-guage plastic and can be installed in a metal door without interfering with the operation of the electronics. When your dog approaches, the door will open if it's set to do so from a distance of two to six feet away (adjustable sensitiviey). No other animals including your neighbor's pet, birds, squirrels or other intruding pests will be allowed in. The 16 7/8" by 11 1/2" opening provides 10 5/8" shoulder width that will accomodate most large dogs. (Overall dimensions are 22 1/2" X 17 1/2".) If you have more than one dog, you can order multiple collar keys that will be set to the same frequency as your door.
