This is a top from my current collection (Autumn Winter 2007-08) It was inspired by the early Anglo-Saxon tradition of leg-binding, whereby leather straps were wrapped around the feet and legs. This was done for both functional and decorative reasons. Strapping would not only protect the feet and legs (like a basic form of boot) and keep them warm during the winter months, but they also became a symbol of status, often decorated with tassels or bright-colored weaving. Strapping is an often overlooked technique when it comes to fashion design and garment construction, but can be used to manipulate fabric and create striking effects not possible using more common devices such as darts. This piece consists of a tunic-style base garment and two cloth belts, which cross and overlap each other as they mold the tunic to the wearer's body. This creates a beautiful gathered effect on the base garment and is incredibly flattering. Although it looks complicated, this piece is very easy to wear... the paths of the belts can be guided by the built-in loops on the tunic, but the design is very versatile and forgiving. Basically you can arrange the strapping to suit your own style, and the top will remain strikingly beautiful and very comfortable to wear. These images show the piece in black, but it will be made to order in a top-quality Cotton Poplin in a range of colours as shown. This piece is available to fit from XS to Large, and will be made to custom measurements to ensure a perfect fit. Please see the sizing specs in my profile for more information. PLEASE CONTACT FIRST BEFORE BUYING... AND I'LL MAKE A CUSTOM LISTING FOR THE DEPOSIT FOR YOU. 50% deposit due when measurements are given 50% due before mailing Thank you so much for looking, Rose
