My daughter calls this piece of art Raining Running Japanamen, which I rather like, but the real name is Sudden Showers Over Shono, circa 1833-1834. It is an extremely detailed work from famous artist Ando Hiroshige. It's one in his series of Fifty Three Stages of the Eastern Road, his most famed series of work. There are actually 55 prints in the series, not fifty three. This series depicts everyday life and the varying stages of the Japanese landscape along Japans most important highway in all seasons. All are quite stunning, but I was particularly drawn to this one. He actually created 13 different series about the Tokaido, or Eastern Road.
