Not a reader at all, a highschool student, 09/01/2008 This book demonstrates how modern day Afghanistan really is. It shows the raw behaviors and struggles and hardships the people face in everyday life. There are parts when you will cry out and parts when you will just want to cheer and support the main characters. Also recommended: 5 people you meet in heaven, a walk to remember, the water is wide, color of water Bianca, a teenager that loves good books, 08/29/2008 I just finished this book! I thought the book was just outstanding. When I saw the movie I just had to read the book and I got The Kite Runner from the library at my school. Its just like the movie except there were minor differences and stuff that wasn't in the movie. You learn about what Afganistan was like before the Taliban. It wasn't violent like today. I like Amir. Even though his father was a little disapointed in him and sometimes he didnt seem brave like his father wanted Amir to be. Sometimes I feel like I can't impress everybody. But you know you cant live someones life for them. My favorite phrase was, 'For You A Thousand Times Over.' It shows if you love a person that much you'd do anything for them. Everybody should read this book. Also recommended: Memoirs of a Geisha, Chinese Cinderella, and Falling Leaves, and Veil of Roses. What a splendid book!
