One of the biggest confusions in the world of health is the amount of water you are suppose to consume daily, as well as where that water should be coming from. Some people say you have to have 8 glasses of water daily and some people say that other beverages that contain water, such as sodas and teas, can be counted towards your daily water intake. So what is the truth? The latest recommendation from the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Science, Dietary Reference Intake for Electolytes and Water says “that the fluids consumed do not just need to be from water. Individuals can obtain their fluids from a variety of beverages and foods. Contrary to popular opinion, consumers do not need to consume ‘eight glasses of water a day’ to meet their fluid needs.” Although if you are trying to lose weight I would suggest to drink additional water whenever possible. Drinking water helps cleanse the body when weight loss and fat breakdown is occuring. It also helps to keep you full so that you will snack less.
