The past few months have been filled with both good news and bad news, so I thought I would devote some space to both. Just to give you some idea of what the life of a writer is like. THE SCIENCE OF JAMES BOND has been published to excellent reviews and has been selling (as best Lois and I can tell) quite well. It was featured in Entertainment Tody and USA Today and there's even some interest in doing the book as a TV special. Only time will tell on that. On a somewhat more personal note, I will be doing a signing and reading from the book at Twilight Tales in Chicago on December 11 at 8 pm. Also attending will be Raymond Benson, who wrote the intro for the book, and who wrote several excellent James Bond novels during the past few years. Twilight Tales is held at the Red Lion Inn, on the Near North Side of Chicago, and is almost directly across from the famous Biograph Theater where John Dillinger was shot. There is a small admission charge but the beer and food is great and the Red Lion is haunted, so it's a fun place to gather. THE OCCULT DETECTIVE featuring the supernatural and super science adventures of Sidney Taine and his sister, Sydney Taine, has earned out its advance so is selling well, and continues to get great reviews. The Sydney story "Kiss Me Deadly" received an honorable mention in the latest Years Best Fantasy and Horror Collection. Years ago, "The Midnight El," featuring Sid Taine, received the same honor. So, its a first for both a hero and sister to be recognized in such manner. I will have to work harder so that a story featuring both Sidney and Sydney finally makes it into the book itself. Lois Gresh and I just recently completed the final draft for our next science book, THE SUPERNATURAL SCIENCE OF STEPHEN KING. It's somewhat longer than our previous science books and is jammed with all sorts of information and explanations of some of the most mysterious questions facing modern scientists. It's a fun book that addresses some of the greatest scientific mysteries of our time. It will be published by Wiley next July. I'm involved in writing some new and very exciting comic books that I hope will debut in the upcoming months. One comic might even feature, Sidney. And a big movie/dvd/TV deal seems to be moving along to a satisfactory conclusion. More about that in the months to come. Exciting stuff is going to happen next year. Balancing out all the good stuff is some ungoing problems with my feet. Last last year I was diagnosed with pre-diabetic peripheral Neuropathy. This is a nerve disease for which there is no cure and it causes great pain in my feet 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I'll go into more detail some later time, but for now, I am learning to adjust to life with intense constant pain. If any of my readers suffer from neuropathy, needless to say I'd like to hear from you on how you deal with the constant pain? all best bob w.
