Our new, permanent home is located in the northeast corner of the newly restored Ferry Building across The Embarcadero from the foot of Market Street. The Ferry Building restaurant seats 150 people in the dining room and 20 at the bar. Additionally there is a 34-seat cocktail lounge facing the bar. The area has numerous parking options as well as being a public transportation hub (click: parking/directions for more information). Valet parking ($12 for 3 hours) is available Mon-Fri during the day and 7 days a week in the evenings. The Slanted Door is a modern Vietnamese restaurant that showcases the abundance of produce as well as ecologically farmed meat, game and poultry found at small farms around the San Francisco Bay Area. The Phan family opened the original Slanted Door in 1995 with a vision to blend Vietnamese cooking technique with local ingredients. The new restaurant takes this vision even further in its new environment, designed by Olle Lundberg, overlooking the San Francisco Bay. The food, relaxed atmosphere, riesling-driven wine list, full bar with premium brands and fresh squeezed juices, and hard-to-find Chinese teas all speak to the restaurant's originality and commitment to quality. Our to-go store called "Out the Door" is now open in the main hall of the Ferry Building, around the corner from the restaurant. Out the Door offers prepared dishes as well as easy-to-use cooking kits that give you the opportunity to make our dishes at home. The Slanted Door - a collaborative effort led by executive chef Charles Phan - is proud of its relationship with its loyal patrons, staff and local producers.

It galls me as a Vietnamese person to think about paying this much for Vietnamese food. Still, I've heard so much about this place, I'd love to try it out.
