So I just found a site with a Flash movie that gives the story behind The Story Behind the Bookmark (if that makes any sense).

I found another site that has a bigger pic, and the writing looks like Japanese.
How wonderful! I love the Mermaid one. Just wish I could see what the words on the bookmark said.
