Suited for grades 3-5, these lesson plans provide interactive lessons for building character and building common sense. The Way to Happiness Character Education Program approaches the subject of morals from a unique perspective, focusing on the simple and often overlooked truth that actions that are "good" or "moral" also happen to make good sense. These lesson plans teach common sense values using the book, The Way to Happiness. The values covered in The Way to Happiness provide educators a unique, non-judgmental way to introduce concepts of right and wrong. The Way to Happiness consists of 21 precepts, meaning rules or principles that guide action and conduct. Many of the precepts are organized into sub-precepts. These lesson plans are researched and designed by teachers for teachers A wide variety of team-oriented discussions make this an excellent Character Education tool that adapts to any schedule and every curriculum. In general, in each lesson you will be giving the students the precept and sub-precepts as written in the book, and then guiding the students in class discussion and activities which will help them to understand and relate the precepts to their own lives, in and out of school. The idea is to bring each student to a full understanding, and thus to enable the student to make correct decisions on his or her own self-determinism.
