If you are a die-hard Jars of Clay fan, you won't mind paying the extra money for this album. Basically, its a rehashing of some of the other songs they did on "If I left the Zoo" and "Much Afraid" with some never-before heard stuff. These are tracks that never made the albums, and were distributed as limited collectors items for fan club members. "Goodbye, Goodnight," "Collide," and "River Constantine" are earlier versions of the tracks actually used on "If I Left the Zoo." "Crazy Times" sounds almost exactly like the original on "Much Afraid" and the last track is the music that was used on "Frail" (which has no lyrics on this album) from "Much Afraid." "Kaylos" is a very short radio jingle they did to get a free lunch. But the songs that I love to hear again and again are "Headstrong" (no drums but still sounds excellent) and "New Math" (which just sounds cool). Their "sappy country love song" (insert) called "Fly Farther" is really pretty too. All in all I only recommend this album to the die hard Jars of Clay fan, and also to the ones who don't mind the unpolished pieces in this album (directors talking, musicians joking around). If you don't mind the unpolished takes of this hodge-podge record and if you really love Jars of Clay, then this record is for you. Comment | Was this review helpful to you? (Report this)
