The kings and shepherds reverently approach the stable in the town of Bethlehem in this beautifully illustrated diecut calendar. Teach children the story of the first Christmas as they countdown the days of advent beginning on December 1 and ending on Christmas Eve. Open a window each day to reveal a bible verse and a special picture. Calendar sits easily on any table top or flat surface. Dating as far back as 1851, advent calendars were created by Germans as a way to help families count down the days to Christmas. Other versions were the advent calendar, advent clock and advent candle (which is similar to an advent wreath). At first, these calendars only consisted of little pictures printed on cardboard, today they have taken on many shapes and forms, going from religious-themes to a more traditional Christmas. Theyve also evolved to have little doors that reveal whimsical pictures, toys, phrases from a classic Christmas story, Bible verses or little chocolates and candies. Size 16"W x 11½"H.
