The North Carolina Community Health Center Association (NCCHCA) {formerly the North Carolina Primary Health Care Association (NCPHCA)}, is a private non-profit membership organization that was established in 1978. Our mission is to promote and support community-governed health care organizations and the populations they serve. Our vision is to be the leader, catalyst, advocate, and expert for community governed health care organizations and the populations they serve. NCCHCA is staffed by highly skilled and dedicated professionals who undertake a variety of special projects focused on strengthening and expanding federally funded community health centers in the state. Membership dues and federal, state and private grants fund the work that supports NC's health centers, coordinates migrant/seasonal farmworker programs for 8 states and preserves the safety net for those who would otherwise not have access to primary health care. NCCHCA is governed by a 27-member board of directors. The executive leader each of our corporate members holds a seat. The board is rounded out by several at large seats held by individuals representing key CHC programs or functions. WHO WE REPRESENT NCCHCA serves Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), FQHC–Look Alikes and consolidated health center grantees. FQHCs are federally supported, not-for-profit health care centers that provide comprehensive primary care, interpretation/translation, transportation, outreach and other enabling services. Oral health, behavioral health, and pharmacy services are available on site at many centers. Community Health Centers (CHCs) are built to serve the entire community with an emphasis on uninsured, under-insured and medically underserved populations. CHCs accept commercial insurance, Medicare/Medicaid, and offer a discounted fee structure based on family size and Federal Poverty Guidelines for those who do not have health insurance or the means to pay for services. There are 23 Community/Migrant Health Centers in North Carolina that operate 95 delivery sites. Annually, these members see 260,000 patients from more than 60 of our 100 counties.
