What’s that? Well, here’s the story: You drink a bottle over dinner and it’s a lovely, long dinner and you decide you’ll go for a second and halfway through the second bottle you realize that that might have been a wee bit much and that the bottle won’t be finished. Usually you’ll go for the cork, jam it back into the bottle and done. Usually you won’t really like the wine the following day, because it’s not what it was the day before. That’s where the vacuum stopper comes in, just place that on the bottle and start pumping and magically – no actually not magically at all – all the air gets sucked out and your wine will be as delicious the day after as it was the day before! In fact the wine will stay lovely for an amazing 6 days when sealed properly with the little pump. It’s ingenuity at work: The base is made out of soft rubber, inside is a small little pump, the top acts as a handle and you start pumping away. 2 variations are available: the stainless steel vintage stopper or the poly carbonate selection stopper, they both do the job equally well, but the steel vintage is just an amazing thing to feel in your hand, it’s so heavy… Of course that hand milled stainless steel mother of all stoppers doubles the price in a heartbeat unfortunately. And it’s designed by Jakob Wagner one of Scandinavia's foremost designers, and one of only a handful to have exhibited at some of the biggest museums worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York with the Propeller Trivet from Menu. Motivated by his love of meaningful shapes, Wagner works at the balancing point between contrasting visual expressions: Masculine and feminine, organic and geometric, symmetric and asymmetric. In his own words, this balance “brings the object to life, challenges our senses and appeals to our feelings."
