Awesome knife! June 4, 2009 Kfwickl I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend's college graduation. I have bought him a few other Swiss Army knives and thought this would be a great addition to the collection. He loved the black finish of the knife, so I'm really glad I got this one instead of the traditional red. It looks really classy, yet is very useful! Very Handy June 1, 2009 MacGyver wannabe (Northeast New Jersey) I have had this knife long enough now to know that it seriously comes in handy. When I first opened the package, I was disappointed that the key ring was miniature. I replaced it with a standard one. Next, I found a mini caribeaner and clipped it on. Now, I can stick it in my pocket, clip it on a belt loop (or more often, the top of my pocketless shorts) or keychain, or stick it in the belt holder I bought with it. I always have it on me, and has gotten me out of innumerable jams. I'm no MacGyver, but I have consistently used it to fashion something to get me out of a pickle. Once I was at a baseball game and a man started choking on sunflower seeds, and I used it to perform an emergency tracheotomy. The main knife blade is the perfect size for most things, and having the second smaller blade as a backup is a good idea. One suggestion: instead of having the small blade on the front of the SAK next to the main blade, put it on the back (there are open slots) and put a backup large blade in its place; I think that that configuration would make the SAK many times more useful. The nail file, saws, screwdrivers and corkscrew do their jobs well. The scissors are very useful, as are the pliers. The can opener does a good job. One reviewer said that he used the magnifying glass to start a fire, and another said that it wouldn't work. I tried, and it took me all of four minutes and thirty-seven seconds to light dry grass and another seven minutes before I had a full size campfire going. The mini pen, toothpick and tweezers all come out from the side of the knife (the scales or casing). Very nifty design. My only complaint is that the pen is slightly too short to be used to write for a long time (though very usable when nothing else is on hand). Perhaps Victorinox could lengthen the pen (it is shorter than the length of the casing), or make it slide out so that it is not removable, but you can use the actual knife as a handle. Some say that it is too large. That may be so for people with smallish hands, but it is the perfect size for me. It may be on the large side in your pocket, but is the size of a flip cellphone. At any rate, I think that it a useful product, a tremendous value and a true life-saver!!! Great Knife with minor reservation May 26, 2009 James K (N NJ) Got this knife after my old SAK (a small "Camper" - 6 tools) and original Leatherman got lost/stolen. I got this "Swiss Champ" and a Leatherman Charge TTi. I won't compare the SAK and Leatherman here as they are really very different tools and for really different purposes. As for the Swiss Champ: I was looking for a SAK with specific tools: - scissors - pliers (I heard good things about it) - corkscrew (yes, I like wine) - philip's head screwdriver - flat head screwdrivers (various sizes) - bottle opener - can opener Believe it or not, there are not many SAKs that have this combination especially the scissors/pliers/corkscrew/Philip's Head combination. The Swiss Champ has it and is the smallest of the SAK offerings with the above combination. First Impressions: Really quality feel to it. Thicker than I thought. Heavy. There are not that many descriptions on the internet that show just how wide it is. It is about 1.25" wide. That does not sound like a lot but it is. It is just slightly too cumbersome and heavy to be comfortably keep it in a pocket. Tools are high quality. They unfold and fold easily and cleanly. The knifes are sharp but not insanely sharp "like a scalpel" as some describe but good enough. (If you want to see what sharp really is, just check out a standard Japanese kitchen knife like MAC or Global. Now that is sharp!) All the steel in
