Postage on all fabric is at cost and I don’t make a charge for packing as I try to recycle packing. Not only is this good for the environment, but also your pocket!!! | Silk velvet is a soft, elegant fabric that looks and feels expensive. It drapes better than other velvets and has tightly woven cotton backing that does not fray easily. The silk velvet we most often have is a vintage 1950s - 60's - 70's, Silk content varies from: (28% silk - 72%) rayon & (18% silk - 82%). Rayon was the first manufactured fibre. It was developed in France in the 1890's and was originally called "artificial silk." In 1924, the term rayon was officially adopted by the textile industry. Unlike most man-made fibres, rayon is not synthetic. It is made from wood pulp, a naturally occurring, cellulose-based raw material.
