I received a Wachovia Gift Card in the amount of $200 from my sister and brother-in-law. Silly us!! We were unaware that there was a monthly maintenance fee of $2.50 after six months of non-use. Since I held the card for a specific purpose, it had been whittled down to $162.50 when I went to use it. (Did I fail to mention that the card expires in November 2008? Since when does cash expire?) I followed all instructions and established a password, thinking that everything was now in order. Guess again!! The card specifically states WACHOVIA GIFT CARD and DEBIT on its face. When I attempted to purchase some merchandise, the card was denied for INVALID PASSWORD. Back to Wachovia again where I was informed that SINCE IT WAS A GIFT CARD, IT COULD ONLY BE USED AS A CREDIT CARD SINCE THERE WAS NO PASSWORD!! Just more of Wachovia's trickery! No wonder they are subject to multiple class action lawsuite. I've tried to purchase groceries, clothing, and items on the Internet. NO ONE ACCEPTS THIS CARD! Now I'm stuck with something that was given with good intentions...in the meantime, Wachovia will continue to drain the account until November when they will take all remaining funds. WHAT A RIPOFF!!!!
