My 4yr old Sheltie, approx 14lbs & my 3yr old American Eskimo, approx 16lbs stayed in Happy Paws for 10 days. I care about my dogs like they are my children. They are very friendly, calm, everyone loves them (even those who don't like dogs). I requested a suite which I was told would be a finished room w/ a television showing programs suited for dogs; The dogs would be in the suite together at night, During the day they were to be placed w/ same size dogs. all while being monitored by well trained staff. I was told that there were Internet cameras in the facility & all dogs went through a strict interview to determine compatibility & safety. I was willing to pay anything for my dogs to be in great care, & this place seemed to be the best bet.. * Both my dogs were delivered to me after staying at Happy Paws from Aug 25-Sept 4, 2007. The "sheltie" had a cone around his head, a 6 inch long gash stitched around the side of his neck, a small stitched area on top of his neck, an open wound on the side of his neck, & a 6 inch tube hanging down from the bottom of his neck-- all covered by areas of dark bIood & pus. Imagine if it was your dog. When I contacted Happy Paws, the manager. Allan, told me that he had good news, "We will be refunding your credit card for the hospital bills." He said they didnt know how the bite happened, & it could have been caused by my other dog and these things happen, thats why I signed a waiver. My dogs have been living, sleeping, playing, & eating w/ each other for the past 3 years without one fight. A much larger dog made this gash. They have stayed in many facilities in the country w/ no problem. He received surgery for an infection caused by the wound going unnoticed. After getting a second opinion we discovered that the original placement of the tube was incorrect, & they made another hole in my poor puppy's neck to place a new drainage tube. This place should be closed down before more neglect causes more injury.photo comming soon
