Reviewed By: yourmightyruler on 1/15/2009 Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year Pros: Cheap, huge storage. Looks good, works well without any hiccups. Runs cool, decently fast. Cons: FAT32 formatted. It's just an initial pain, but still. Come on. FAT32 is ancient. And I don't like the mini-usb either. Why not a full size? Or USB B port so it locks in. Other Thoughts: If you want a terabyte, this is the way to go. Keep in mind that this is an external drive without E-SATA, so the only true use for this is backing up data, music and video. Not for running apps off of. 3 out of 3 people found this review helpful. Did you? Reviewed By: Salsa King on 1/15/2009 Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week This user purchased this item from Newegg Pros: I just received my 1 TB - WD hard drive yesterday (Wednesday), and again, I am very happy with newegg’s shipment speed as I ordered it at noon on Monday! (No special shipping method, just standard… which is for free!!). The available space, well… It’s great, especially if you have tons of videos, movies, music and photos or if you want to back-up your data. The HD itself it’s indeed quiet and fast. Good size so you can bring it with you anywhere you want and have access to all your information. Cons: The only thing I wish they would’ve done with this HD is to build an ON/OFF switch on it, but I can certainly live without it (I hope). Other Thoughts: First thing I did was to re-format it to NTFS as recommended since I am running Windows XP. It was very simple and quick… I should’ve done that with my 500 GB drive where all my videos and music live! I still can do it and probably will as contents under NTFS perform faster and better. I recommend buying it… I will give more comments once I have it for a few months. Thanks newegg! Keep up the simple yet reliable service you currently have. 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful. Did you? 2nd Ext. Hd. Drive Purchase Reviewed By: Buckdog on 1/15/2009 Tech Level: average - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month Pros: Have been waiting for W.D. to provide a quality volume for dollar ratio since buying one of their 120G portables last year. This is it. Quiet, Plug n Play w/no issues to speak of. Self power off feature would have been nice but unit stays cool, is stackable in right conditions.*Paid $35 more than the 120G for 8X+ the capacity! Size is sweet, great companion to W.D. TV HD Media Player. Cons: None so far. Time will tell. Other Thoughts: Paid $115 for Hd. Drive, same for W.D. Media Player. Seems fair for ability to store/display 1Tb of various media, with ample room for data. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful. Did you?
