"We do a lot of visual-motor work in my classroom. Draw Write Now helps develop and noticeably improve the children's skills." -- Special Needs Teacher This book has one of my favorite lessons -- drawing a simple map of the world. It begins with an introduction to the Prime Meridian and Equator, and then drawing each continent using simple ovals. While developing a mental image of the map, the child also develops a comprehension of Earth's basic geography. Later, when a child hears about Africa in the news or in discussion, they can imagine their simple world map and relate the location of the continent to the location of their home. --Kim Stitzer Coauthor, Draw Write Now, Books 1-8 At the end of the school year, I introduced the seven continents to the children combined with a study of animals in their natural environments. Children love to draw animals and my students were confident with their skills by this point, so it was a fun way to end the school year. -- Marie Hablitzel Coauthor, Draw Write Now, Books 1-8See less »
