First used these on my trip up Mt. Whitney and I couldn't have been happier. They seem to push you forward when going up, and cushion your steps on the way back down. Use both of them, and wear the wrist straps for maximum benefit!

New addition to my gear in 2009. Unlike a thermarest, this pad is comfortable enough for side-sleeping. It's also got a down-filled base that makes it extremely warm. Not self-inflating, but takes only moments to inflate with the integrated pump.
