Our Product Story | Topaz, symbol of love and affection, is the birthstone for November. It is one of nature's most wonderful yet least-known gems. The term "topaz" is often applied to citrine or smoky quartz, but true topaz is very beautiful and versatile. Topaz occurs not only in the transparent yellow, yellow brown, orange-y brown, and pinky brown colors most popularly associated with it, but it is also found in a very light to medium red, very light to light blue (often the result of treatment, although it does occur naturally), very light green, light greenish yellow, violet, and colorless. Topaz is a hard, brilliant stone with a fine color range, but it is much rarer and much more expensive than the stones commonly sold as topaz. Sterling silver is a white, highly reflective precious metal composed of 925 parts of pure silver and 75 parts alloy, usually copper. Copper provides the silver with sufficient hardness and wearing qualities, as pure silver is sometimes considered too... See less
