These aren't very special but I've actually had a lot of compliments on them so thought I'd post them! My favouritest jeans in the whole wide world had ripped - you know in that really annoying place right under your bum? From one end to another, on both legs. So I was basically walking around with my ass hanging out. I was very popular, but not overly comfortable. I stitched them up but on the first use they ripped back up as the fabric was so thin. So I made the below skirt... Not a great pic, but here's the back as well - I wanted to keep the pockets as I always need them (purses are so annoying!) My friend liked this so much she asked me to make something similar out of her trousers... End result is kind of the opposite, the frayed style wouldn't have worked on this fabric - and the front pockets were much deeper than the back ones so I kept those low instead. so to start things off. my veggietales hoodie. not really a flattering color or print but it's super warm because i lined the entire hoodie, sleeves and all, with flannel. now onto the tutorial. please read this carefully before asking too many questions. I'll try to be as clear as possible. I directed this tutorial towards someone who has sewn a piece of clothing before. Not going into detail about how to attach sleeves and such but it should be quite simple to figure out. Materials: 2+ yards of main fabric, .5 yard lining (for hood), 20" or longer separating zipper, .5 yard rib knit fabric, 1 tshirt, it would also be useful to have a hoodie next to you while you're doing this just to make sure things look right. Instructions: 1. Place the tshirt on top of the fabric. fold the sleeves in and cut out the shape adding about .75" on both sides. 2. Take the piece you just cut out and fold it in half. Lay it over the fabric and cut it out adding 1" - 1.5" to the straight edge. Repeat. 3.... See less

If you don’t mind getting glue on your fingers and you’ve got a couple of prints and a bunch of papers to spare, you could try making your very own photo journal! Here’s what you’ll need: 2 photographs; sheets of paper (they can be blank or try a mixed stack of recycled papers), 1 thin strip of paper (choose a color to match your photos); 2 wooden pegs; two wooden boards (or old books); sheet of wax paper; brush; white glue (craft glue or PVA bookbinding glue) 1. Trim your 2 photographs and the sheets of paper so they are all the same size. 2. Stack together the sheets of paper, put one photograph on top and one on the bottom of the stack with the pictures facing outwards. Try to line up the papers and covers along the left edge as neatly as possible (this is the spine). Hold everything in place with the wooden pegs. 3. Prop the pegged sheets and covers between two wooden blocks or two books, hold the entire stack together firmly. 4. Apply 1 thin layer of glue to the spine (left edge... See less

I've finally written up a pattern for these dolls - and made quite a few to check it. I hope everything makes sense! Instructions are for knitting in the round with a single circular needle doubled up (the ‘magic loop’ technique). The doll’s body is cast on using the Turkish Cast-on. Other techniques used are i-cord, Kitchener stitch, and grafting. The dolls are knitted with double-knitting weight yarn; I've used wool, cotton and acrylic. 2.5mm to 3mm needles should give the right gauge - firm and not too stretchy. One size down from the manufacturer's smallest recommended size should be about right. If using a combination of thicker and thinner yarn, favour the thinner yarn. Body: Cast on 40 sts, 20 sts per needle, using darker colour. Knit 26 rounds. The cast-on tail will be on the left-hand side of your knitting at the beginning of a round. Break off yarn, and join lighter colour. Knit 20 rounds. Break off yarn and join darker colour. Front and back of doll will be worked separately... See less
