With facing folded back 1" wrong sides, to wrong sides, pin front sleeper to back sleeper matching sleeve hems, underarm seams, and crotch seam, overlapping facing at crotch 1". Stitch from sleeve hem, down side, around feet and crotch, and end at the other sleeve. Fold 3 inch ribbing in half lengthwise and then widthwise. Trim center front ribbing widths to 1/4", tapering to full width at center back. (foldline is center back and raw edges are center fronts). I'm so excited about this jacket and hat set--I made it for Adelaide from the vintage pattern below. It's with my absolute favorite fabric of all time--the Munki Munki cardinal jersey (thank you, thank you Jessie!! What kind of a friend not only KNOWS what your favorite fabric is, but then gets you that fabric for your birthday, when it's nearly impossible to find? A damn good friend, I tell you!). I'm digging this pattern--I love that it's lined, so it's all comfy and cozy, and I really adore the scalloped edging on the front. And because I'm completely insane (certifiable, I'm sure), here are the other FOUR jackets I made this week: I told you I got a lot of crafting done this weekend!! Darts are typically found in the bust, waist and hip areas, where the body is the most contoured. How do I make a straight dart? These bust darts are straight for an easy fit. Make them as follows: To make darts, with the RIGHT sides of the fabric together, fold the fabric through the center of the dart, bringing broken lines and small dots together. Stitch the dart from wide end to points. A double pointed straight dart is made exactly like a single straight dart, except that you start at the center of the dart and stitch to the tip. Repeat this procedure for both ends of the dart, overlapping a few stitches in the center when starting the second section. Clip the dart at its widest part. I had one of those days where I felt the need for some freestyle sewing. No pattern, no set path. An idea had been running around in my head for a few days until yesterday when I decided to sit down, start sewing and see what came out. This time it was a change purse / credit card keeper /business card holder for my backtack partner. I wanted something low profile to go in a back pocket when you go out and don't want a purse. I liked the finished product so much that I thought maybe a tutorial would be fun, so here goes. (Let me know if you have any difficulties) It's really basic; all you need is two pieces of fabric and a closure of your preference. Snap, button, Velcro, magic - whatever you have in the stash. I'm using a snap so I'll add it on last. You may have to make adjustments to add on your closure at a different point in the process. 1. Cut your each piece of fabric each into a 3.75" x 10.5" rectangle. You could make a template or draw it on a piece of paper to make a pattern... See less
