flame flower brooch is decorated with peacock and hand stripped coque feathers! it makes a lovely hat decoration or hair adornment. this little flower fades from a deep red to pink to orange at its centre. the flower is fashioned from french wire ribbon with an orange swarovski crystal surrounded by raspberry japanese delica glass beads. the flower itself measures about 2" (5cm) in diameter. the flower is adorned with black hand stripped coque feathers, and a tiny peacock feather that peeks up from the flower with its asymmetrical fringe. the feathers come about 5" (13 cm) from the flower. the feathers are glued to a backing and sewn on to the flower itself, so they are pretty sturdy, but they will not stand for being shut in a car door or chewed on by a pet cat. the flower is backed with a wool felt backing with a 1" (2.5 cm) bar pin sewn to the back. why a pin-back instead of a hair clip? because a pinback may be pinned in hair with bobby pins, and also versatile enough to pin to... A SWELL OF A HEADBAND!!!!!!!! There is a strip of streets down Melrose Ave here in Los Angeles that evoke such a cool, laid back hipness with an air of elegance. I'd like to think this little number comes close to that description. Take it from ultra elegant or snaz up your jeans as a girl about town should do. Silver gray silk dupioni is "intertwined" with "gray poupon" (my fancy word for 'mustard yellow'). The combination is unexpected and one of my favorites. Other high quality findings are used to complete the look and a gross grain ribbon ties around the head for a headband-ish look, but it can also be made without. All is securely attached to my custom made backings which contours to the form of your head for a perfect fit. A comb at back keeps it in place. All my designs are uniquely pieced together using fine fabrics, trims, findings...etc. Please visit my shop for more and feel free to contact me for custom orders. See less

SIZE: small Bust is approx. 34/ 35" Waist approx. 26 / 27" FABRIC: 100% cotton WASHING: dry clean OR wash - COLD on gentle cycle. you should probably wash this separate as it has been hand dyed and color could run a bit, which is natural. hang to dry - ruffles can be pushed down flat or "re-fluffed" as you wish. i also like to twist the skirt as it dries for a nice wrinkled look.
