This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman, one of the iconic designs of the 20th century that timelessly blends elegant, old-fashioned luxury and visionary modernism. Charles and Ray Eames paired the warm, inviting look of seductively soft leather with the sleek form of molded plywood, then balanced the seat on a rugged star-shaped base. To commemorate the anniversary, we are now offering the Lounge Chair and Ottoman in a unique Santos Palisander veneer. Santos Palisander has a highly varied grain pattern, ensuring that each chair made will be completely unique. Also to celebrate its 50th, each chair made in 2006 will have a medallion set underneath the seat, and will ship with a commemorative book that details the history of the design.
