For years I had always struggled to cut a nice peice of cake that didn't end up everywhere on its way to the plate. Nothing worked, we always had a mess. Whoever was serving the cake always ended up with messy fingers, the cake ended up with less frosting. Total disaster. I purchased this with hope that it does work and it will make parties/cake cutting easier. Well it works! It is so nice! You just have to put this up to the edge and cut out a square, as if this were a knife. If you squeeze gently it will hold the slice perfectly while you transfer it to a plate. I will never be able to live without this again. When you use it, and you are picking up a slice of cake, don't sqeeze it too hard or it will smush the cake.
