Explainations and answers in plain english I get asked lots of computer questions. I intend to use this page to link to answers that I find or answers that I write myself for the many questions that others might also be asking. I will also link articles or other info that parents ought to see so they are aware of things like MySpace.com which may be dangerous for their children. I am trying to put together one or more presentations that I might be able to offer to groups like a school parent/teacher leaque to help the grown-ups be better equiped to oversee what their children are exposed to on the Internet today.

Viewpoint did an automatic update and I did not know what it was. Turns out it is part of the latest AIM tool. It is not spyware, just poorly understood and a bit pushy about encamping onto my system.

A division of News Corp., MySpace enables computer users to meet any of more than 60 million members. Users post searchable profiles that can include photos of themselves and such details as where they live and what music they like.

Highlights: "The Center for Missing and Exploited Children reported more than 2,600 incidents last year of adults using the Internet to entice children." Do I have your attention now?

Comments (1)

If you are a parent with teenage kids, you owe it to yourself and your offspring to know about MySpace.com. My own son tells me that the majority of his classmates have pages on this "service". I'll tell you that some of the things one can easily find on their site is downright scarey. "Do you know where your kids are browsing today?"
