(11/02/08) With access to over 30,000 patterns and designs from Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg’s archives, Hella Jongerius combines traditional patterns and animal studies to create something wholly contemporary. Nymphenburg’s little lone fawn is dappled with a pink pattern originally used on the feathers of a guinea fowl figurine. Once a merely decorative doe, this fawn has been given a more functional role as part of this bowl in the "Nymphenburg Sketches" collection.
As part of Jongerius’ award-winning "Nymphenburg Sketches" collection, each piece displays a series of maker’s mark, simultaneously paying homage to the history of the company and craftspeople who worked to bring the piece to your table. Each piece displays the model number, thrower’s initials, figure former’s number, designer, decor number, painter’s number (figure), painter’s number (pattern) and polisher’s initials. See less
