Blackberry Farm is a living history museum on 54 scenic acres with a lake, ponds and a meandering stream. The grounds contain an arboretum with more than 200 varieties of trees, floral displays and historic agricultural gardens. Blackberry Farm has five museums including the Carriage House, the Farm Museum, the Early Streets Museum and the Huntoon House. These contain an outstanding collection of late 19th century artifacts used in every facet of life. In the Carriage House, there are 40 carriages, sleighs and commercial vehicles. The Farm collection has many rare implements dating from the mid-1800s to 1910. The Streets Museum houses 11 late Victorian-era exhibit stores including a music shop, pharmacy, general store, photography shop and toy store. A dazzling little coffee shop that offers not only coffee & tea, but also a whole stock of goodies! You'll find more than what you'd typically expect from a cafe - candies, pastries, toys, mugs, coffee makers, kitchen utensils, picture frames, jams, and lots of other fun items. Also on display are approximately 20 (I haven't counted) different coffee beans and another 20 jars of tea leaves, some of them I've never heard of before. As for the brewed coffee, they offer four options - single, double, triple and quad. Prices are fairly standard, slightly cheaper than Starbucks. They currently only have four stools where you can sit facing out the window...so not an ideal place to idle. See less

An illuminated vertical sign blinks on and off, and customers bustle out of the shop with white paper bags laden with treats still warm from the oven. In fact, the bakery has been in Evanston for nearly 70 years and continues to attract a wide range of Evanston residents, from curious newcomers to dedicated customers. "I think Bennison's is different because they have a history in Evanston and people and their families have been going there for a while now," Weinberg freshman Gautam Bahadur said. Bahadur first tried Bennison's baked goods during his dorm's munchies. His experience made him want to try it again even though the shop is different from restaurants he normally visits, he said. Larry Bennison opened the bakery in 1938, and current owner Guy Downer purchased it from him in 1967, according to Bennison's web site.
