NEW 3-D Buckles! I've been experimenting with mold making for my new buckles, and have come up with some new cast and slumped buckles. The process is a lot more complicated, but allows for some amazing stuff. First, I make a model of the buckle, in clay or other materials, then I cast it in a special mold material meant for casting glass. After firing the mold, I can further refine it, and lay flat or broken up glass in it, fusing it very, very slowly until it melts into the mold. After cooling very, very slowly, I take it out, coldwork it (grinding edges mostly), occasionally apply colored glass paint or enamel, clean it up and fire it again. After this cools, I cut a special frisket and sandblast many of them. My other belt buckles are approximately 2 1/4 " x 3 1/2" pieces of fused glass, and are about 1/4" thick. Designs are stenciled on or screen printed with enamel powder. All buckles will fit on any belt up to 1 1/2 " wide - you can have your own belt converted to a snap belt,... See less
