Iconic meets functional in this set of four teacups that displays famous works of Japanese artists Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Hiroshige. Serene, pastoral, beautiful and powerful, each landscape cup captures a season, a force of nature, an everyday slice of life or the awe-inspiring effect that nature has on man. Both Hokusai and Hiroshige were Edo period ukiyo-e artists. Ukiyo-e means "pictures of the floating world," and Hokusai and Hiroshige were the quintessential landscape artists of this style, gracefully capturing man's love and fascination of nature. Three of the images are from Hiroshige's series of prints "The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido" and one is Hokusai's famous work, "The Great Wave Off Kanagawa." Made in Japan.
